How did H8 Inc form?

Well, my cuz Darrel came up with the name. He used to tag it and it was like his MO back in the mid 80′s when he was skateboarding and shit like that. Then around ’94 we started talking about doing a hardcore band, and calling it h8 inc, he knew how to play bass a little, and I was gonna sing. Well, he went back to prison and I just got it going with Cold As Life cause we were all real tight friends, and just figured he would want to play bass when he came home. But it didn’t really work out that way… so we just keep it going like that.
Q. Growing up how was hardcore an influence to you?

It meant alot. The struggle of life, how to rise above, deal with loss, pain, anger, get out frustrations, I could relate. The hardcore of the 80′s is what I grew up on, and the atmosphere and energy of the live shows, I could relate to all of it. Felt like where I needed to be.
Q. What is everyone’s individual influence?

The other guys in the band? I think they all feel the same? I can’t really speak for them.
Q. How has hardcore changed over the years, specifically in Michigan?

Well, when I started going to shows in 1987 all the local Detroit stuff was fast upbeat and more O.G style up till about 1992 then it started to get more crossover metal style and kept going, but some local bands still held onto the fast style. Now I think worldwide its more metal than punk. Its changed alot everywhere. It’s all good, but I tend to like the original style. Fast, hardcore/punk. It’s all good.

Q. What is H8 Inc writing/composing process?

I think I basically wrote everything ‘cept for 1 song. What I do is come up with something on the guitar then, present it to the guys, and go from there.
Q. What inspired you to sample The Animals “House of the Rising Sun” for “Misery”?

I have an open mind for alot of music, and The Animals rule. One of my favs.
Q. How is the new album coming along?

Good, still writing a few, gonna re-record, add more songs and get on a label. Itl’l be a minute before it’s released.
Q. When is it coming out?

In a few months or so hopefully, it got pushed back a bit.
Q. Is there a general theme linking it or is it just a collection of songs?

Not really a theme, just a collection I guess.
Q. Any plans to tour?

Yes. Alot. Depending, but most of the rest of the year hopefully.

Q. Any bands (local and big) you would like to tour with?

All the obvious ones… Madball, A.F, bands like that, would really love to tour with Lethal Aggression, local band here called Heresy, but there on and off, not really together much.

Q. Who does the band’s artwork?

My cuz Darrel, and my boy Craig.

Q. Anything you’d like you say to fans?

Thanks for all the support, well be touring in the next month on the east coast, euro soon, and stay tuned for more merch and the new album.
